El Conde de floridablanca ha estado à tomar las Orñs. de V. S. para Aranjuez, donde espera tener la honrra de que V. S. le acompañe à su mesa todos los Savados desde el 11. de Mayo proximo venidero.

[Translation]

The Count de Florida Blanca has been to take the orders of V. S. for Aranjues, where he hopes to have the honor of the company of V. S.1 at his table every Saturday after the 11th of May next ensuing.2

1. A marginal note in the LbkCs (EJ: 4223, 3472) reads: “V. S. is an abbreviation for Vuestra Senoria, which corresponds roughly to your lordship or your excellency, but there is no precisely equivalent title in English.”

2. JJ embedded a copy of this note in his letter to the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of 28 Apr. 1782, below, and there commented extensively on its significance. For his decision not to accept the invitation, see his letter to Montmorin, 27 Apr. 1782, below.
