ADfS, DLC:GW; Varick transcript, DLC:GW.

GW probably enclosed a copy of Col. David Forman’s second letter to him of 17 June.

On 19 June, Greene ordered Moore Furman to use “Every possible exertion” to forward “1000 or 1500” barrels of flour to West Point (Greene Papers description begins Richard K. Showman et al., eds. The Papers of General Nathanael Greene. 13 vols. Chapel Hill, N.C., 1976–2005. description ends , 6:25).

See GW to Robert Howe and to Jonathan Trumbull, Sr., both this date. Greene signed a note on the cover of GW’s letter to Trumbull: “The Express is to ride night and day, and if fresh horses are wanted, Quarter Masters and all other well wishers to the independance of america are desired to furnish the Express with such horses as may be necessary to forward the dispatches” (Ct: Trumbull Papers; see also Greene Papers description begins Richard K. Showman et al., eds. The Papers of General Nathanael Greene. 13 vols. Chapel Hill, N.C., 1976–2005. description ends , 6:23–24).

Greene impressed wagons on 22 June to move the stores from Morristown (see Greene to James Abeel, that date, Greene Papers description begins Richard K. Showman et al., eds. The Papers of General Nathanael Greene. 13 vols. Chapel Hill, N.C., 1976–2005. description ends , 6:29).
