… The room now occupied as an office has undergone no alteration [and if] applied to any other purpose it would need repairs.…1

Printed extract (Martin I. J. Griffin, “Stephen Moylan…,” American Catholic Historical Researches, n.s., 5 [Apr. 1909]: 231–33). Described as a two-page letter in the lists probably made by Peter Force (DLC, series 7, container 2).

1. In May 1796 Moylan moved into the house on the corner of Fourth and Walnut streets in Philadelphia that had been occupied by John and Dolley Payne Todd between 1791 and 1793. He rented the property, held in trust for John Payne Todd, until 1807 (see PJM description begins Robert A. Rutland et al., eds., The Papers of James Madison: Presidential Series (1 vol. to date; Charlottesville, Va., 1984—). description ends , 15:352–53, 357; Moylan to JM, 1 Jan. 1807 [DLC]).
