[Wilmington, North Carolina, October 20, 1794. On December 15, 1794, Oliver Wolcott, Jr., wrote to Hill: “Your favour of Oct. 20th. addressed to the Secretary of the Treasury, has been rec’d.”2 Letter not found.]

1Hill was United States attorney for the District of North Carolina.

2Wolcott’s letter to Hill reads as follows: “Your favour of Oct. 20th. addressed to the Secretary of the Treasury, has been rec’d & I have the honour on his behalf to acknowledge it as an acceptable mark of your attention to the interests of the public. The subject will be brought under the view of Congress for further provision” (ADf, Connecticut Historical Society, Hartford).
