You will receive herewith enclosed a Copy of an Act of Congress of the 29th instant with Copys of the letters refferred to in it reccomending to the Executive of Virginia the stationing of and safe keeping of the Convention Troops in case of invasion and to advise the Board of War of their proceedings.

Samuel Huntington was elected president of Congress, in the room of John Jay, 28 Sep. 1779 (xv, 1114). The ACT or resolve of 29 Sep. concerning protection of the Convention troops is printed in the same, p. 1126, together with relevant letters from the Virginia delegates and the Board of War, copies of which were enclosed in the present letter to TJ.
