Abner Early Callaway (1787–1834) and his brother George Callaway inherited land in Bedford County near TJ’s property from their father James Callaway in 1809. By 1830 Callaway was living in Pittsylvania County. The following year he moved to Missouri, eventually settling in Madison County, where he died (Ackerly and Parker, Our Kin description begins Mary Denham Ackerly and Lula Eastman Jeter Parker, “Our Kin”: The Genealogies of Some of the Early Families who Made History in the Founding and Development of Bedford County, Virginia [1930] description ends , 297–302; Bedford Co.
