Sir,

Since my letter of yesterday I have received a letter from James Miller agent of the Quarter Master General, of which the enclosed is a Copy, by which it appears the complement of Tents for the Ninth Regiment of Infantry have been forwarded to Baltimore

I have the honor to be with great respect Your obedient servant

(LS, Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress; Df, partially in McHenry’s handwriting, James McHenry Papers, Library of Congress), enclosing James Miller to McHenry, September 4, 1799 (copy, Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress). A note on the cover of the LS reads: "Filed." In the left margin of the LS from James McHenry, there is an "X" mark between the last two lines of the first paragraph between the words "Ninth Regiment" and "of Infantry."
