To Colonel Thomas Clark

Head Quarters West-point 3d Octr 1779

Sir

I have received intelligence from Congress which makes it unnecessary for you to proced further on your route to Carolina1—you will therefore on receipt of this letter—rejoin the main army by easy marches.2 I am Sir your most obt servt.
