On 1 May, GW wrote McDougall, “I return you my thanks for your favor of the 27th Ulto.” McDougall wrote in his journal for 27 April, “Mr Deane left this in the morning wrote Genl Washington the advice He brought” (NHi: Alexander McDougall Papers).
