8. Genet presumably wanted the material for the Affaires de l’Angleterre et de l’Amérique. It appeared in the Annual Register for 1777 (pp. 265–74), of which the Public Advertiser announced on May 2 the forthcoming publication.
9. Genet’s reply below, May 9, identifies the resolution as that of Dec. 19, 1777, when Congress required the British to provide or pay for provisions for the captured army: JCC, IX, 1036–7.
