I was at Chester yesterday the most of the shiping is gon up the River as far as the Bend below Billingsport, the enclosed lines I Receved from a good honast whig that would not assart a falce hood Knowing it to be such he lives in the City.1 I am your Excelanceys Most Obedant Humble sert.

The enclosed undated intelligence report reads: “I Receiv’d the Beef & Return Thanks till better paid The troops in the Jurseys Under Comand of Lod Cornwalis are not Come back Neither is any others Arriv’d here, but Shipping With Stores for army No acco’ts at all from the Jerseys their Numbers here I Cant find out but Beleave it takes one Third part Daily for Guards, in & about town The meaning of that fire you See was the amerricans Set fire to their fire Ships & the reports of their guns When the fire had got to them & the Great Explossons of magazeines on board, the Galleys all got up Safe to Boilingtown” (DLC:GW).
