9. Dubois, as he spelled himself, was a merchant dealing in linen, lace, and haberdashery: information from the Amsterdam archives kindly furnished us by Prof. J.W. Schulte Nordholt. This introduction bore some fruit, for Dubois saw BF again in Paris the following March, and subsequently assisted in the relief of an American prisoner in England: to BF, Feb. 25, 1779, APS.
