Sir,

I take the liberty of proposing the following gentlemen as Ensigns in the Regiments of Infantry, in the service of the United States: (viz)

Simeon Knight Vermont 1st. Regiment
Joseph Dorr ditto. 1st. ditto.
George T. Ross Pennsyla. 2d. ditto.

Simeon KNIGHT and Joseph DORR received ensigns’ commissions dated 29 Apr. George Thompson ROSS had been a lieutenant of artillerists and engineers from December 1796 until his resignation in May 1801. On 3 May 1802, he was commissioned as an ensign and second lieutenant of the 2d infantry regiment (Heitman, Dictionary description begins Francis B. Heitman, comp., Historical Register and Dictionary of the United States Army, Washington, D.C., 1903, 2 vols. description ends , 1:379, 606, 846).
