9. A native of England, Satterthwaite was employed by Lawrence Growdon and Jeremiah Langhorne to keep a school at Durham in Bucks Co., Pa. He wrote several poems, including an elegy on Langhorne and one called “Mysterious Nothings,” 1734, whose title, one critic has written, “precisely describes the contents.” PMHB, VII (1883), 83–4; XVII (1893), 29.
