This same day John brockenbrough wrote Alexander Garrett from Richmond that “This will be delivered to you by Mr Hicky who will offer proposals for the plaistering to be done at the University. As he is a total stranger, I take the liberty to make him known to you, & will thank you to put him in the way of acquiring the information he will need, as to the expence of lime, sand &ca as well as the cost of living in your neighborhood. He is a skillful workman, & may be relied on as to the performance of any contract he may enter into. He executed the plaister work of the new court house in this place, & the whole of that in a dwelling house I have lately built, and in both instances gave great satisfaction” (RC in ViU: TJP, endorsed by TJ: “Plaisterer.
