Note: The Town of Norwich is situated in the East part, of the State of Vermont, adjoining Connecticut River, & opposite Dartmouth College, in the State of New Hampshire, in north Lat. 43.° 33.′14—The Altitude of that part of the Town, where the Observations were made, above tide-water, I found, by Barometrical Calculation, to be 917 feet & 629 feet above Connecticut River. In the 2d Column, of the above Table, whenever the sign −Cypher, thus −16° denotes that the Thermometer was 16 degrees below Cypher.
