Ro Porterfield has this moment rec’d The Presidents polite invitation of the 17th. He will do himself the honor of Waiting on the President Tomorrow.1

1. A veteran of the Revolutionary War, Robert Porterfield (1752–1843) held the rank of brigadier general in the Virginia militia during the War of 1812 and was responsible for the defense of Richmond (Butler, Defending the Old Dominion, 453–54).
