MS (PU, 1949); entirely in TJ’s hand; addressed: “Mr Jonathan Shoemaker Shadwell Mills.” Not recorded in SJL.
On 15 Dec. 1809 TJ gave James salmon (Sammons) an order on Shoemaker for $25 “on account of mason work done here.” TJ employed Sammons between 1809 and 1813 to repair, among other things, the Milton tobacco warehouse and the toll mill at Shadwell (, esp. 2:1250, 1287). A letter he wrote TJ on 3 Dec. 1809, not found, is recorded in SJL as received the following day.
