Author of an “Essay on the formation and progress of Languages and particularly, on the best method of teaching foreign languages” I beg leave to present you with a Copy of it, which I humbly hope you will do me the honour to accept, and to give it a perusal.

Enclosure: Chazotte, An Essay on the Best Method of Teaching Foreign Languages, as applied with extraordinary success to the French language; with A Table, displaying the Philosophy of the Relative Personal Pronouns, and rendering their use and syntax perfectly easy at first sight. to which is prefixed A Discourse, on the Formation and Progress of Languages (Philadelphia, 1817; Poor, Jefferson’s Library description begins Nathaniel P. Poor, Catalogue. President Jefferson’s Library, 1829 description ends , 5 [no. 212]).
