Latitude of Willis’s mountain by observations of the Sun’s meridian altitude taken from the peak on the right side of the gap, & next adjacent to it, as seen from Monticello.

On 20 Nov. 1811 TJ was at Mill Brook, the residence of his son-in-law John Wayles Eppes, located in eastern Buckingham County about three miles from Willis’s Mountain. He was staying at Poplar Forest on 18 and 19 Dec. 1811 (MB description begins James A. Bear Jr. and Lucia C. Stanton, eds., Jefferson’s Memorandum Books: Accounts, with Legal Records and Miscellany, 1767–1826, 1997, The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Second Series description ends , 2:1271, 1272).
