Jeremiah A. Goodman supplied TJ with documents respectively giving the number of days worked by Mat and Hal and by jesse perry, and the value of the smith’s work performed by or for Goodman (MSS in ViW: TC-JP; in Goodman’s hand; with TJ’s summary of both documents on the verso of the latter). TJ settled his accounts with goodman on 12 May 1813 and Mary Walker lewis on 5 Oct. 1813, and he paid Isham Chisholm’s order on 24 Jan. 1814. He finally cleared the balance of his account with Perry early in November 1814 by drawing on Gibson & Jefferson for $75, noting on 4 Nov. that this “overpays our old balce. of 67.48 and it’s interest” (MB description begins James A. Bear Jr. and Lucia C. Stanton, eds., Jefferson’s Memorandum Books: Accounts, with Legal Records and Miscellany, 1767–1826, 1997, The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Second Series description ends , 2:1288, 1293, 1297, 1304; TJ to Perry, 3 Nov. 1814).
