Sir

I have read all the papers inclosed in yours of the 14th & now return them as I received them. The conduct of Col. Hawkins appears in an agreeable point of light & you may express to him if you please, my satisfaction in the conduct & issue of the business.

Inclosed is a duplicate from Mr. De Grasse.
