Philadelphia 29th Oct. 1795
Dear Sir,
On my way from Mt Vernon to this city, I met your favor, with the Packages, committed to the care of Mr Fay and pray you to accept my thanks for your attention to them.1 From the former place I sent you a parcel which came under cover to me from Sir John Sinclair which I hope got safe to your hands. They were put in charge of my Secretary Mr Dandridge whom I directed to send them by a safe hand to you—and this he did, as he informs me, by a Mr Knightingale.2

2. Livingston presumably received from John Sinclair the same items that Sinclair had sent to GW and to John Jay (see Sinclair to GW, 18 July, and n.3 to that document; and GW to Bartholomew Dandridge, Jr., 9 Oct., and n.1 to that document).
3. GW wrote “Ihall.”
4. GW probably enclosed one or both of the letters he wrote to Alexander Hamilton on this date.
