Henry Knox to Tobias Lear

[Philadelphia] Tuesday 4 June [1793]

Dear Sir

please to inform me how the Presidents health is in this bad weather, and whether he can receive company today.1 Yours sincerely

1. For GW’s illness, see Lear to Jefferson, 31 May. The precise state of GW’s health is not known, but GW’s executive journal indicates that on this date Knox “put into my hands a letter” (JPP description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed. The Journal of the Proceedings of the President, 1793–1797. Charlottesville, Va., 1981. description ends , 161).
