Please to submit the enclosed letters of the 27th ultimo from Genl Chapin, to the President, which I have just received.1 Yours

1Gen. Israel Chapin’s letters of 27 Jan. 1793, which contained information about “his Journey to Buffaloe Creek” in December 1792, have not been identified (JPP, description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed. The Journal of the Proceedings of the President, 1793–1797. Charlottesville, Va., 1981. description ends 57; see also Lear to Knox, 11 Dec. 1792, note 2).
