Dear Sir,
Your letter of the 28th ultimo I received in due course—
The Schooner Brilliant, Capt Black, belonging to Richmond, being in this Port, I have availed my self of so good an opportunity, and have this day shipped your wines, the casks & boxes appear in excellent order, I wish them safe to hand, and with, My best wishes for your happiness, am,

On this date Gelston wrote Gibson & Jefferson two brief notes, the first, through Capt. William black, enclosing certificates for TJ’s wine and stating that “when the costs are ascertaind I Shall by direction of Mr J. forward the amo to you” (FC in CtMyMHi: Gelston Papers; in Gelston’s hand; at foot of text: “Messrs Gibson & Jefferson”), and the other, sent by mail, covering a bill of lading for said wine (FC in same; written in Gelston’s hand on verso of preceding FC; dateline lacking year; perpendicularly in left margin: “to Gibson & Jefferson Feb 6. 1818”).
