February 12, 1801. Acknowledges Hamilton’s letter of February 11, 1801.1 Discusses several lawsuits involving the capture and resale of American-owned vessels by foreign nations and the settlement of the cases in United States courts.2

Vandenheuvel v United Insurance Company, which was decided in favor of the defendant during the January, 1801, term of the New York Supreme Court and was reversed in March, 1802, by the New York Court of Errors.
