[Newport, Rhode Island, January 25, 1791. “… By the last Post I received the substitute hydrometer with the apparatus which you transmitted, with your letter of the 18th of the last month,1 and a description of Dycas’s Hydrometer, with directions for the use of it, and directions also for the use of the Substitute.…”
