[Philadelphia, July 24, 1793. At a meeting on August 5, 1793, the cabinet discussed “Mr. Delany’s letter of the 24th of July on the question whether duties are to be paid on prize goods landed for sale.”1 Letter not found.]

1An entry in JPP description begins “Journal of the Proceedings of the President,” George Washington Papers, Library of Congress. description ends for July 26, 1793, reads as follows: “The Secretary of the Treasury sent me a letter which he had received from the Collector of Philada. stating that the French agent had refused to pay the bonds which he had given for the duties on the French prizes” (JPP description begins “Journal of the Proceedings of the President,” George Washington Papers, Library of Congress. description ends , 188).
