To Major General Horatio Gates

Head Quarters [White Plains] 13th Septr 1778

Sir

As it is more than probable that the road Leading to Danberry is out of order, I would wish you to send a party under a proper Officer to repair it, as far as that place, that should you receive orders to move on, you may have as little hindrance as possible.1 I am Sir Yr Mo. Obet Sert

Enoch Poor, at “Camp Bedford,” wrote Gates on this date: “Inclose’d is the letter Sent you by his Excellencey, if it is your pleasure that I Send an officer and a party of men to Danbuary to morrow morning youl pleas to give me orders for that purpus, but as you have Sent the Artificiers it I think it will answer the Desine of the order” (NHi: Gates Papers).
