Philadelphia Decr 25th 1793.
Dear Sir,
Your favor of the 18th instt enclosing a statement of sales of lots in Coxburgh, belonging to us, has been duly received; and I thank you for the particular manner in which they are rendered. I did not mean to give you so much trouble. To know summarily what had been sold, and what remained on hand, was all I had in view.1
I hereby acknowledge the receipt of a Bank note (New York) for Sixteen hundred and fifty nine 50/100 Dollrs being the bal[anc]e pr acct stated on the sales abovementioned.
Mrs Washington joins me in offering you, Mrs Clinton & your family the compliments of the season, & the happy return of many, many of them. With great & sincere friendship,2 I am—Dear Sir Your most Obedt & Affecte Ser.

1. Clinton’s letter to GW of 18 Dec. and its enclosure have not been found. However, GW entered the information on his account with Clinton in : “To my moiety of 6053 Acres of Land purchased in Partnership with him on the Mohawk River, in Coxburgh. Which said land he was empowerd to sell as a joint concern, & part thereof actually hath been sold as will appear by his letter of the 18th of Decr 1793—accompanied by an acct, of which the following is an exact copy—viz.” The accompanying account includes a list of seventeen “Lotts in Coxburgh which belonged to G.W. & G.C. and have been sold,” from 1 May 1788 to 9 Oct 1793, comprising 4,034 acres for £3400.2. in “York Currency”; a list of “Cash recd by G.C. on the difft Sales”; and a list of nine “Lots unsold,” comprising 2,019 acres (, 2). GW had requested the statement in his letter to Clinton of 27 November. Coxeborough township (Coxe’s Patent) was in Montgomery County, N.Y., at the time of purchase in 1784, but by 1793 the land was in Herkimer County, and after 1798 it was in Oneida County.
2. On the draft, GW initially wrote “sincere regard,” but struck “regard” and added “friendship” above the line.
