15th January 1796.

Mr Ralph presents his respects to The President of The United states, and encloses a plan for establishing a free-school in the city of Washington.1 Mr Ralph has been deputed to solicit The President’s patronage; and, he purposes to inquire, at 1 oClock, if his Excellency be at leisure.

AL, DLC:GW. The Rev. George Ralph (c.1752–1813) was rector of Christ Church, Washington Parish. He later spent many years as principal of the Charlotte-Hall School at Cool Springs, Maryland.
