War Department, September 3, 1794. “As it will be highly necessary that the Militia called out by order of the President, agreeably to the Secretary of War’s letter of the 7. of August last, should be mustered and inspected at their respective rendezvous, I have to request the favor of your Excellency to appoint some suitable character in your State to perform that service.…”
