RC (Thomas A. Lingenfelter, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, 1994); partially dated; addressed: “Thomas Jefferson Secretary of State Philadelphia”; stamped and postmarked; endorsed by TJ as received 27 Aug. 1791 and so recorded in SJL.

This note probably covered Randolph’s letter to TJ written at Tuckahoe earlier this day. Thomas Mann Randolph, Sr., achieved Success in his bid for election to the Virginia Senate (see Vol. 22: 60–1).
