Philadelphia December 11. 1794. ½ past 12. o’clock E. Randolph with respectful compliments to the President, informs him, that he is obliged to go home, in order to take a dose of physic for the relief of his stomach and head from a load of bile, which is very oppressive and makes him very giddy.
E.R. had the honor of calling at the President’s, while he was out on horseback; in order to deliver a copy of his account of expenditures up to the 1st of July last. Duplicates will be ready for the two houses of congress.1
Nothing new has occurred to-day.

1. The account, dated 29 Nov., shows Randolph receiving $56,786.67 and making payments of $52,400 to John Jay, James Monroe, and Willink, Van Staphorst & Hubbard, leaving $4,386.67 to be accounted for in a future statement (copy, certified by George Taylor, Jr., DNA: RG 46, entry 33; copy, DLC: GW). Randolph finally delivered it to GW with his second letter of 13 Dec: “I do myself the honor of inclosing to you two copies of my account of monies expended in our foreign intercourse. It reaches to the 1st of July 1794, which is the conclusion of the year according to the forms of the Treasury. I should have shewn the manner in which the balance struck against this Department, as well as the monies received since the above date have been disbursed, had it not been an established usage, to make an annual settlement only; which gives an opportunity for obtaining the necessary vouchers from the other side of the water.
