Septr 4—1794.
The Secretary of the Treasury requests the favor of the President to send him the communications from the Governor, on which he not long since reported, containing imputations on the conduct of the officers of the U. States employed in the Western Counties.1 They will be useful in forming the reply to his last letter, in which a considerable progress has been made.2

1. Hamilton evidently referred to Thomas Mifflin’s letters to GW of 18 April and 27 May, on which he had written a report dated 4 June.
2. Hamilton was referring to Mifflin’s letter to GW of 22 August. Hamilton’s reply, sent to Mifflin on 12 Sept., is in the form of a letter to GW dated 2 September.
