Treasury Department
May 23. 1792.

Sir

I have to request, if in future you should have any particular communication to make to the Secretary of the Treasury, that you will designate Your Office upon the outside of your letters.

1Although there is no addressee given on either copy of this circular letter, presumably it was addressed to the collectors of the customs as an amplification of the directions H gave in “Treasury Department Circular to the Collectors of the Customs,” May 10, 1792.
