From James Madison to Sarah Bowdoin, 6 June 1812

To Sarah Bowdoin

Washington June 6. 1812

J. Madison has received the little volume which Mrs. Bowdoin has had the goodness to send him. The sensibility which he begs leave to express to her, is much quickened, by his high respect for the memory of the distinguished Patriot, to whom the public is indebted for the valuable Legacy.1

RC (MHi).
