From James Madison to Sarah Bowdoin, 6 June 1812
To Sarah Bowdoin
Washington June 6. 1812

RC (MHi).
1. James Bowdoin, U.S. minister to Spain from 1804 to 1808, had died in October 1811. Possibly JM had received a copy of the eulogy delivered by Thaddeus Mason Harris, A Tribute of Respect, to the Memory of the Hon. James Bowdoin, Esq. in a Sermon, Preached at Dorchester, October 27, 1811 (Boston, 1811; 22969).
