29 July 1813, War Department. “I have the honor respectfully to propose for your approbation the following appointments in the Army of the United States.”

RC and enclosures (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B-A1); partial letterbook copy of enclosures (DNA: RG 107, LSP). RC 1 p. In a clerk’s hand, signed by Armstrong. The enclosures (28 pp.) were lists of appointments to the infantry, artillery, rangers, and dragoons, the majority of which were at the ranks of captain, lieutenant, and ensign in the Twenty-sixth through Thirty-first and Thirty-third through Thirty-eighth Regiments of Infantry. A printed copy of the enclosures (Senate Exec. Proceedings description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends , 2:420–33) includes, in addition, corrections of previous nominations and recommendations of Leonard Covington as brigadier general and Simon Zelotus Watson as topographical engineer. JM submitted the lists to the Senate in a message dated 30 July (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B-A1; printed in Senate Exec.
