To James Madison from John Armstrong, 18 February 1813 (Abstract)

§ From John Armstrong

18 February 1813, War Department. “I have the honor to propose for your approbation the following promotions in the Army of the United States.” Recommends Thomas S. Jesup to be a captain, Michael McClelland to be a first lieutenant, and John Meek to be a second lieutenant in the Seventh Regiment of Infantry. All three appointments were to date from 20 Jan. 1813.
