§ From John Armstrong. 15 February 1814, War Department. “I have the honor respectfully to propose for your approbation the following appointments in the Army of the United States.”

Letterbook copy and letterbook copy of enclosure (DNA: RG 107, LSP). Letterbook copy 1 p. The appended list (1 p.) recommended fourteen promotions and appointments, primarily in the infantry. JM’s message forwarding the nominations was received in the Senate on 17 Feb. 1814 (Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends 2:474–75).
