Sir,

This has no object but to inform you, that I have advanced (of the money of the Public) the sum of two thousand eight hundred & eighty francs to John Martin Baker Messenger & agent of the U. S. and that I enclose his receit for the same. With very high Consideration I am, Sir, Your Most Obedient & very humble servant
