8Charles Thomson’s An Enquiry into the Causes of the Alienation of the Delaware and Shawanese Indians from the British Interest; see above, p. 199.

9This total shows that Strahan charged for a full 14 sheets.

1BF’s preface to William Heberden’s Some Account of the Success of Inoculation for the Small-Pox in England and America; see above, pp. 281–6.

2Richard Jackson’s An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pensylvania; see above, pp. 360–1, 402.

3The Second Journal of Christian Frederick Post, on a Message from the Governor of Pensilvania; see above, p. 298 n.

4In BF’s hand. In submitting an account of his expenses to the Pa. Assembly on Feb. 15, 1763, he reported that on this day he paid £213 13s. “for Printing sundry Pieces in Defence of the Province.” The discrepancy between these two totals is accounted for by his payment to Thomas Jefferys of £4 19s. on May 11, 1759, for engraving the “Indian Map” for Thomson’s Enquiry. “Account of Expences,” p. 40; PMHB, LV (1931), 118.
