From William Strahan

AL: American Philosophical Society

Monday 11 o’Clock [November 27, 1769?4]

Addressed: To / Dr. Franklin / Craven Street

4This note could of course have been written at any time during BF’s years in England. But the queries that Strahan sent him on Nov. 22 had a hint of urgency in them, and BF was out of town and did not answer for a week. Our guess—and it can be nothing more—is that Strahan grew increasingly impatient to have the reply: that he first sent a man with this note and then, when it produced no result, sent again two days later with the note printed under Nov. 29.
