1GW ordered these goods from Cary on 15 Nov. 1762 and had received them by September 1763. See GW to Cary, 20 and 27 Sept. 1763. There are also in DLC:GW invoices dated 23 April 1763 for John Parke Custis as well as for goods sent to GW’s manager Joseph Valentine for GW’s and young Custis’s York River plantations.

2Welch, or Welsh, milk pans were covered with combed or feathered slip, a type of raised decoration applied to ceramic ware.
