1. There is no record of the Charming Polly entering the South Potomac before 10 Aug. when GW acknowledged receipt of the nails. The Charming Molly, however, with Robert Watson master entered the Rappahannock River on 6 July from London, which she had left on 6 April. GW seems to have mistaken the name.
2. These must be the nails ordered from Cary by GW in his letter of 22 January. If so, Cary made an error and sent 51 M 10d. nails rather than the 25 M 10d. and 25 M 8d. nails ordered by GW.
