Dear sir

I send you the inclosed that you may see the Disposition the good People of this City are in, respecting the Tea, that is hourly expected.3 The Paper however is designed more as a Scare Crow, than any thing else. I am with Respect Dear sir Your Affectionate son

3. He doubtless enclosed the broadside of Nov. 27, warning the Delaware pilots and the captain of the tea ship Polly that they would be tarred and feathered if they brought her up the river. When she arrived a month later, she turned back for England without landing the tea. Labaree, Tea Party, pp. 101, 156–9.
