3D, partially in H’s handwriting, Mr. Walter N. Eastburn, East Orange, New Jersey.

With the exception of the bracketed material, which is in H’s handwriting, this account is a copy of the one which Morris enclosed in Morris to H, February 7, 1798. On February 7, 1798, Morris wrote to his son Thomas: “You will receive inclosed with this my letter of today to Colo Alexr Hamilton with a State of his Acct with me balle in his favour due on the 27th. Novr last being $6002.25 say six thousand & two dollars twenty five Cents, which you are to assume with interest from that day being the date.… I have left open the letter to Colo Hamilton for your inspection and you may if you think proper Keep a copy of the Acct. When you have done with it Seal and deliver or send the letter and Acct as directed” (LC, Robert Morris Papers, Library of Congress). The account printed above is apparently the copy which Thomas Morris made.
