From Brigadier General John Sullivan

Winter Hill, 10 March 1776. “As Brigadier Genl of the Day Yesterday Orderd the Guards to be visited; found them alert as usual.

ADS, DNA: RG 93, Revolutionary War Rolls. Sullivan included in his report a return of the guards with “Occurrences” at several of the posts. At 10:00 a.m. on 9 Mar., he reported that he “went Down the River in a Boat by Bunkers Hill[.] no Large cannon there & but three Field pieces.” At noon “Saw a Large Number of Regulars Embarkg with their Baggage & a Large Ship Fell Down to the Castle.” At 2:00 p.m. “Saw a Boat Load of Soldiers go from Bunkers Hill to Boston.” At 3:00 p.m. “Returned up by Bunkers Hill & Discovered but few people there.” At 9:00 p.m. “The Enemy began a fire on our people from their works in Boston.” At 10:00 p.m. “We Fired upon them from Cobble Hill and Leachmores point.” At 2:00 a.m. on 10 Mar. “the Firing Ceased on both Sides.” At 7:00 a.m. “Saw a Brig Sail from Boston.” At 8:00 a.m. “Saw a Large Ship Sail from Do.”
