From Philip Schuyler

Albany, July 14, 1796. “The messenger with whom I sent Mr Morris’s Mortgage1 returned whilst I was at Fort Schuyler with a letter from the Clerk advising me that so many mortgages had been presented that he could not register the one in question so as to return It by the Messenger, but that as soon as he had done it, he would send It by a safe hand.…”
